He has covered celebrities and the media as a fashion and beauty journalist for years. He was previously a staff writer for People, an entertainment section of the trade journal Business Week.

The author discusses his favorite articles from the newsletter, including “The Age of Celebrity Glamour,” which he describes as “a refreshing peek at glamour culture from the perspective of the average woman.” He says, “The media have now invaded our privacy by showing intimate pictures of celebrities and making them the object of desire. But women still read fashion magazines.” He offers his own take on why people enjoy being paparazzi targets. Finally, he offers his assessment of the state of women’s reproductive health and advises men to take care of themselves.
I’d like to take a bit of time to discuss my column, which originally appeared in the June/July edition of the F&L. My opening article described the gap between the hairdresser’s and stylist’s mindset. I talked about the divide between hairdressers and stylists on the west coast and hairstylists and estheticians on the east coast. I suggested that the divide represented the chasm between fashion, beauty and lifestyle journalists on opposite sides of the country. I concluded by saying that the future of magazines lay in the ability to cross regional divides.
I’d like to take this discussion a step further. Perhaps the future of magazines lies in becoming lifestyle, fashion and entertainment publishers. If you’ll recall, Vanity Fair, Elle and L Magazine were among the last major print fashion magazines. Now, they are also lifestyle, fashion and entertainment publishers. What this means is that they will be living two lives: the lifestyle side and the entertainment and gossip side.
What does this mean for aspiring journalists or writers? Well, one obvious thing: it means you can get paid to write about the latest trends, fashions and beauty rituals. As a fashion, beauty and lifestyle journalist, I’ve worked with some very high-profile celebrities and fashion models. I have also spent considerable time researching current trends for upcoming fashion, beauty and celebrity magazines.
I always try to include several sections when I write a story. In this case, I wrote an article about what celebrities were wearing on the red carpet during Fashion Week. I wrote a separate piece about which designer’s lineups were best and which ones people should keep an eye out for. Then I included some tips for those who want to start their own fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazine.
If you want to write about fashion, beauty and lifestyle, make sure to keep a look out for upcoming issues. You might want to write about runway events, photo shoots and social media. Whatever you decide to do, make sure to check your sources and research before publishing anything that could potentially be controversial or libelous. Let me know what you think about this article.
A few weeks ago, I went to an interesting museum in downtown Santa Barbara. It was a Japanese American Museum featuring Japanese American clothing and art from the period of the 1920s through the 1960s. There were also numerous exhibits on fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I especially enjoyed looking at the old model train sets that were still running.
I have always enjoyed reading articles by fashion and beauty magazines. The stories are always interesting and often touch on current topics. If you’re interested in learning more about fashion, beauty and lifestyle, I encourage you to spend a few minutes each day reading. This will help keep you up-to-date on world news and what’s going on in your favorite industries.
I’m not much of a reader but I definitely learned something from these articles. I learned that the Japanese American cultural heritage is actually very beautiful and I love the ideas that are put forth in these publications. I hope you’ll consider all this and think about your own favorite topics of interest. And if you have a magazine subscription, chances are you will enjoy reading them each month as well.
